Good Works #1 - Helping the PACT Early Head Start Program

Good works - Journal Entry

It's November 20th - the Cultural Celebration Day and it's almost 8:00 am this beautiful Saturday Morning. I'm excited about the festivities going on today;

But my parents are helping Tigi Hill this morning do his Eagle Project. They are assisting with a drop-off location, while members of his crew, family and friends, are going around the community and picking up clothing donations for the Parents and Children Together - Ko'olauloa Early Head Start Program.

My family are great examples of providing service and helping others. I'm happy for Tigi for selecting this project and it's been great for everyone in the community that want to help support families. But most of all I am so grateful for my parents who show service without reward and know that service is one of the keys to our salvation. In Mosiah 4:26 we find, ". . . I would that ye should impart of your substance to the poor, every man according to that which he hath, such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and administering to their relief, both spiritually and temporally, according to their wants."

Service is the key and providing service willingly is what the gospel teaches us in serving others. Giving service in little ways, in ways that most people do not recognize. My limitations is of service to others in some ways. And "For whosoever chooses to be friend me because of their willingness to serve and show charity, how great shall be their joy." - (thoughts according to me, Kapua).

There are so many people that I am grateful for, there are many examples of service in life that are countless. And great is my joy.

Let Your Light So Shine Before Men . . .

On November 11 - Veterans day as we remember those who fought for our freedom to live here in America - I was grateful to know that my Lota Ohana would be down to come to the Temple Open House. My Aunty Namahana Olivera sparked the candle and invited all the relatives who were non members to come and enjoy a beautiful day on the Temple Grounds.

My mom and dad were so grateful that we were able to share the light of Christ in some small way by going with them to the temple grounds and then having lunch at our house afterwards. It was fun to see all the cousins play, hang out and talk story and just be with each other which we haven't done in such along time.

I have much to be grateful for. I'm especially grateful that my parents opened our home to have lunch with the family, go to gravesite and pay our respects to our loved ones, and just have a great time spending time with each other. The little of our Good Works was only but a spark and hopefully it will become brighter and brighter through faith and prayers.

Good Works - Journal Entry

September 3, 2010 - Friday

Today my Daddy was waiting for me to get home from school; He's such a tall guy. But I love my Daddy - He's got big eyes and cute freckles and a big smile. He's my favorite man because he likes to sing to me with his ukulele. He always sings the song "God Bless my Daddy". And I can't help but make some noise when he sings. I know he's singing about his Daddy. But i think about my Papa David when my daddy sings that song.

I love my Daddy because he's always helping people; He likes to help people that most people won't care about. He helps people that have a hard time with life. He's got a rough cut way of talking, but my Dad is full of love. I love my Daddy because he does his best to care for me. I can see that it is hard for him to do all that he wants to do for me. But sometimes the best thing that I like that he does is when he sets up the cot and brings a pillow and blanket outside in the the yard and lets me enjoy the sunshine, the blue sky and the beautiful breeze. It's fun to hear him serenade to me especially when I'm enjoying Heavenly Father's Creation right from my front yard. My Daddy is a good example of good works. And I hope to be a good example of good works too.
